Ana Paula Maia

Ana Paula Maia is a Brazilian writer and screenwriter born in Nova Iguaçu in 1977. She published her first novel, O habitante das falhas subterrâneas, in 2003. Maia is the author of A saga dos brutos, a trilogy comprising Entre rinhas de cachorros e porcos abatidos, O trabalho sujo dos outros and Carvão animal. Her work has been recognised in Brazil and abroad, and she was shortlisted for the International Booker Prize in 2026.
